AC Milan Junior Camp 2015

In July of 2015 IFC held the inaugural AC Milan Junior Camp in Wellington. This was the first time a major European football club had brought their expert coaching staff to New Zealand to educate youth footballers in a new philosophy.

The camp took place over two weeks with a total of 250 participants taking part in this unique experience. The weather made things difficult down at Wakefield Park in Wellington, however the enthusiasm and work ethic shown by the participants made its effects negligible.

The expert coaching staff from Milan included Silvio Ferri, Gabrielle Gallicchio, Gianni Santone. The local coaches whom assisted in this camp were Pereyra Garcia, Dave Graham, Milan Bartosz and Justin Palmer.

The focus on the week was full emersion into an Italian and professional learning environment. The hugely positive reception to the camp was highlighted by the media’s reporting on the event and feedback from the camps participants.

At the end of each week the AC Milan coaches were asked to select their player of the week. This player was not selected solely on their ability, but also their attitude, discipline and commitment to the Italian philosophy of football. IFC were proud to be able to award these two players with the opportunity to travel to Milan, Italy for the international AC Milan Junior day.

Nathan Rostron and Xavier Maddox travelled to Milan in early 2016 to test their skills against the best from Milan and around the world and their feedback reflected an eye opening and once in a life time opportunity.

Hi

I just wanted to say a big thank you for an amazing week of football, food and fun in week one of the football camp, all the boys we travelled with loved every minute of it!!! I am sure that the second week was just as fantastic.

The newspaper article was a real piece of treasure that I have shared with my family.

Thanks again Lallit and congratulations on the success of the camp.

Thank you

IFC’s mission statement of delivering world class football development and opportunities to be exposed to the European professional game was clear in the success of this camp. We would like to thank all sponsors and partners for without them the camp couldn’t have happened.

Hi Lallit

We just wanted to get in touch with you to say a big thank you for what proved to be a wonderful week in Wellington for Drew. I wanted to thank you (and meet you) in person but with so many people it was hard to catch you free!

Drew thrived in the AC Milan environment, enjoying not only the football, but the Italian culture and food as well.

Meanwhile, my sister and I enjoyed the Wellington Culture. The most important thing was that Drew thoroughly enjoyed the whole week and it certainly showed in his performance – we were very proud of him.

Could you also please forward our thanks on to all the coaches. It was a grand plan that Raphael ensured became a reality and the coaches certainly made the camp a memorable experience for everyone.

Kind Regards
